The Corinth Canal is located in the Aegean Sea. It connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf. Its length is 6.4 km and its width - 21.4 m.
The Corinth Canal is impassable for most of the modern vessels. The canal saves 700-kilometre around the Peloponnese but it can only accommodate ships up to 16.5-metre wide. Vessels pass through the Corinth Canal on a one-way system one at a time. Larger vessels are towed by tugs. Per year, the canal is passed by around 11,000 vessels.
