Container ship allides with Kiel Canal gate

The container ship Pegasus has allided with a lock gate on the Kiel Canal. The incident occurred yesterday at around 5 p.m. (local time) in Holtenau.

The 132-meter container vessel was en route from St. Petersburg to Rotterdam. The impact in the gate of the lock resulted in hull scratches at port side. There were no reports of injuries or pollution.

The vessel passed through the locks and an hour after the incident it berthed at the Bominflot Bunker Station for further investigation.

Pegasus (IMO number 9387592 and MMSI 305978000) was built in 2009. The DWT 12,306-tonne vessel is registered in Antigua & Barbuda.
