A video posted by Panama Canal reveals the latest update of the expansion programme.
According to the Panama Canal Authority's lead administrator, Jorge Quijano, a $400 million cash injection was received by the consortium widening the canal in Central America on Monday. He explained:
"This is going to help cash flow ... keep independent contractors paid, and get the construction completed."
The construction is expected to have finished in 2015 while the canal will open in early 2016. Jorge Quijano confirmed saying:
"I don't think we'll be seeing another delay between now and completion."
