G2 Ocean receives the Blue Circle Award for the fifth consecutive year

G2 Ocean is delighted to be among the 11 shipping carriers to receive the Port of Vancouver’s Blue Circle Award for its voluntary efforts to conserve energy and reduce emissions at the port.

The award is presented annually to shipping companies that stand out in environmental stewardship and attain the highest level of participation in the port authority’s voluntary environmental programs such as the EcoAction Program, which G2 Ocean has been part of since 2017.

“Congratulations to all Blue Circle Award recipients for demonstrating your commitment to sustainable operations, despite another challenging year for supply chains and the shipping industry,” says Robin Silvester, president and CEO of the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority.

ESG and Decarbonisation Manager at G2 Ocean, Henning Rebnord is pleased to receive the award for the fifth year in a row.

“We are honoured to receive the Blue Circle award once again. G2 Ocean is committed to reducing its emissions both globally and on port levels, and this award shows that we are on the right track.  There is, however, still work to be done, and we have projects in our pipeline to further reduce port stay emissions in the years to come,” Henning says.

Net-zero by 2050

On 30 March 2022, G2 Ocean announced its ambitions to become a net-zero emissions company by 2050. Working with ports, such as the Port of Vancouver, plays a fundamental role in reaching this target.

“G2 Ocean is proud to have achieved this award for five consecutive years. Our goal is to continue to support the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority to protect and improve the environment,” says Anthony Damron, Operations Director.
