Fire erupted on board a natural gas drill platform in Cook Inlet (Alaska) near Nikiski. The incident occurred yesterday morning local time, the United States Coast Guard (USCG) said.
The Coast Guard Hercules HC-130 crew and an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew were immediately dispatched to the scene. To the location were also diverted the Coast Guard Cutter SPAR and the Coast Guard Cutter Mustang.
All the workers on the Baker Platform, 4, were safely airlifted and there were no reports of injuries. The fire was brought under control by 12:30 p.m. local time.
There were no reports of any environmental risks.
The Baker platform is owned by Hilcorp Alaska LLC.
