Video: Pioneering Walk-to-Work vessel launched

The first Walk-to-Work vessel in the world, m.v. Kroonborg (IMO number 9704867), has been launched. The ceremony was held yesterday at the production site of Royal Niestern Sander in Farmsum (The Netherlands).

The pioneering vessel was developed by Royal Wagenborg in cooperation with its client NAM / Shell UK and the shipyard Royal Niestern Sander.

The new type of service operating vessel has been scheduled for delivery next February. It will operate in the North Sea for the next 10 years supporting the maintenance and service activities of NAM/Shell UK.

The vessel can accommodate up to 60 people and provides a workspace, a means of transport and storage. As a DP2 vessel, the 79.30-metre Kroonborg has been equipped with motion compensated elements. The deck of the vessel is 500 m2, deadweight - 2,800 DWT and gross tonnage of 3,750 GT. It will operate with a speed of 13.5 knots.
