Hyundai Container ship runs aground off Pulau Sebarok

The 80,108- DWT container vessel Hyundai Jakarta ran aground off Pulau Sebarok, Singapore on October 14.

The incident occurred while the vessel was en route from Singapore to Port Klang, Malaysia. The Hyundai Jakarta grounded at around 9 am local time in the Jong Fairway near Monggok Sebarok reef.

Shortly after the incident, rescue vessels were dispatched to the scene. Several hours later, by 3 pm, the Hyundai Corporation's boxship was moved to Raffles Reserve anchorage for further assessment. There were no reports of injuries, pollution or damage.

The vessel resumed service yesterday morning heading to Port Klang.

Hyundai Jakarta (IMO number 9323522 and MMSI 372506640) was built in 2007. The gross tonnage of the 294-metre vessel is 74,651 GT.
