The general cargo vessel Nicola has gone adrift off Pentland Firth (Scotland). On October 19, having suffered an engine failure, the vessel became adrift around 5 miles offshore Dounreay with eight seafarers on board.
The Nicola's crew informed the authorities for the incident. The Coast Guard dispatched to the scene the tug Herakles from the Kirkwall base.
Under tow, MV Nicola reached Scapa Flow in time, just before Hurricane Gonzalo.
There were no reports of injuries, pollution or damage.
MV Nicola (IMO number 9195872 and MMSI 306565000) was built in 2000 and is registered in Curacao. The length of the 5,050- DWT vessel is 95 m.
