The 11-man crew of the product tanker Srikandi 515 has been found after 13 days in captivity.
On October 17, the Indonesian authorities launched a search operation. A week later, on October 24, a Malaysian fishermen found and picked the 11 distressed men. They were taken to Chendering.
According to their story, on October 9, their vessel was hijacked by pirates. The eyes of the 11 men were blindfolded, they were taken in captivity and were locked for 13 days. After almost a forthright, the pirates disembarked the Srikandi 515's crew on a life raft (or boat) with water and food supplies. Their vessel disappeared, search is ongoing.
Srikandi 515 (IMO number 9710828 and MMSI 572647210) was built in 2013 and is registered in Indonesia. Manager of the 3,200-DWT product tanker is Lima Srikandi Jaya -Jakarta.
