CBED has recently commenced a new project and winter campaign with Siemens Gamesa.

New winter campaign – CBED joins offshore wind farm Kaskasi

Daniel Alon, General Manager, CBED:

“We are excited about this opportunity to work with Siemens Gamesa once again. This winter campaign fits perfectly into our existing chartering arrangements and commencing the DanTysk & Sandbank windfarm project in March 2023. We thereby continue to record a high utilisation rate of 96% for our SOV Wind Innovation during 2022.”

Supporting green electricity to 400,000 households

Located 35km off the island coast of Heligoland in the German North Sea, the wind farm, Kaskasi, is a major project by RWE Renewables comprising 38 Siemens Gamesa 9MW turbines.

Earlier this month all 38 wind turbines started feeding power into the grid and are expected to supply the equivalent of approximately 400,000 households with green electricity.

World’s first recyclable wind turbine blades

As a curiosity, the Kaskasi wind farm is the world’s first offshore wind farm applying recyclable wind turbine blades. The 81-meter-long turbine blades are developed by Siemens Gamesa, using a special resin and after the end of their life cycle, will be reused, thereby paving the way to full recyclability of wind turbines.

In connection with the project, CBED will be using the Port of Esbjerg, Denmark as base port for crew change and loading of fresh supplies throughout the project period.
