Video: Collision off Xiamen

The 59,615-GT ro-ro car carrier Morning Capo has collided with the 27,971-GT container vessel Stadt Rostock off Xiamen, China. The accident occurred on November 22 at 11:33 UTC.

There were no reports of injuries or pollution released but both vessels were damaged. The hull of Morning Capo was holed and the Stadt Rostock sustained damage to the starboard section of her bow.

Stadt Rostock (IMO number 9320037 and MMSI 30453800) was built in 2006. The 211-metre vessel is registered in Antigua & Barbuda. The Stadt Rostock was en route from Xiamen to Shanghai.

Morning Capo (IMO number 9663295 and MMSI 538005232) was built in 2013. The 200-metre vessel is registered in the Marshall Islands. The Morning Capo was headed to Singapore from Gunsan.

Following the collision both vessels reached a nearby anchorage. They were assessed by the authorities and investigation into the accident was launched.
