BMT is the leading group in Spain in terms of the number of container terminals and already has 8 facilities of this type
As planned, the new terminal at the Muelle de los Mármoles de Arrecife of Boluda Maritime Terminals received last Saturday the first call of one of Boluda Lines’ vessels, the Macarena B. With the start of operations in these new facilities, BMT, a multi-client stevedore operating in 8 Spanish ports, is now present in all the Canary Islands ports –Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Tenerife, La Palma, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote– under the control of the State Ports.
Boluda Maritime Terminals Lanzarote has a total area of more than 5,400 m2. With a reach of more than 50 m and a load capacity of 150 t, the Liebherr LHM 500 mobile crane equipped at the terminal is the perfect tool for handling containers, all types of general cargo and bulk materials. In addition, the terminal has reach stackers, tractor units, platforms and other auxiliary equipment.
BMT Lanzarote has a Port Service License for handling any type of goods open to general use for the port of Arrecife.
With this new strategic commitment to growth and the significant investments made in the container terminals of the Canary Islands, the efficient connectivity between the islands and the mainland is guaranteed, with a service of high quality standards and very competitive. This optimizes, through joint management of operations, the overall control and efficiency of the entire maritime transport logistics chain.
The new terminal will reinforce the connection of the islands with the Spanish mainland, one of the major business challenges of the refrigerated maritime transport sector of fresh products and, through the hub of Las Palmas, also increase the range of services with Africa.
