Video: Allision in Waltershof Port, Hamburg

Container vessels Rita and Cap San Augustin were involved in an allision yesterday, December 2, at 5:50 UTC. The incident occurred in the Waltershof Port in Hamburg.

Having been assisted by a pilot, the 132-metre Rita was shifting from the Container Terminal Altenwerder to the Burchard Quay, but upon maneuvering in the Waltershof Port, Rita rammed into the berthed 333- metre Cap San Augustin.

The allison resulted in a dent on the starboard side of Rita's wheelhouse while Cap San Augustin sustained only minor scratches. Several hours after the incident, both ships were allowed to leave port. Rita headed for Tanger while Cap San Augustin bound for Antwerp.

An investigation into the allison has been launched by the Water Police. No one was injured and no pollution was released.

Rita (IMO number 9318931 and MMSI 210459000) was built in 2005 and is registered in Cyprus. The deadweight of the vessel is 7,993-DWT.
