A charter agreement has been sighed between Diana Shipping (possessing dry materials) and Essen’s RWE Supply & Trading GmbH. The object of the agreement is the m/v Houston - one of the largest cargo ships, carrying dry materials.
According to the company, the contract provides for $12,750 total lease rate per day, decreased by a 5% commission rate given to third parties. The contract range is twelve to fifteen months and will start on January 5, 2015.
Houston (IMO number 9539602 and MMSI 538003656) is a 177,729-dwt large cargo ship constructed in 2009. According to Diana Shipping, Houston is planned to bring up to USD 4.59 million of total income for the minimum period of twelve months. Now Diana operates with 39 ships carrying dry materials (including 2 Newcastlemax, 11 Capesize, 3 Post-Panamax, 3 Kamsarmax and 20 Panamax). In addition the company is anticipating the transfer of one large cargo ship by mid-January 2015, two Newcastlemax vessels and one Kamsarmax vessel during the second quarter of 2016. All of them are newly constructed. Currently the company’s joint transporting capacity is close to 4.4 million dwt. Its calculated average age is 7.06 years.
