Video: Largest in the world containership calls UK for the first time

Port of Felixstowe welcomed for her maiden UK call CSCL Globe - the largest containership ever built. Hundreds of people gathered at the viewing points to be among the first to greet her.

CSCL Globe is operated by China Shipping Container Lines Co.Ltd (CSCL) and is believed to be the most effective asset of China's trade fleet. She is a new class ship capable to carry on board about 19,000 standard-sized shipping containers. This makes her even more efficient that the Maersk Triple-E fleet, which was considered to comprise the largest vessels so far.

The grand ceremony for the maiden voyage of the CSCL Globe was held in China in December. She has the amazing dimensions of 400 meters length and 60 meters width. With this impressive size the ship is higher than 10 stores and bigger than 4 football game grounds. The unique vessel was built by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) in Ulsan, South Korea.
