Update: MOL Express successfully refloated

MOL Express has successfully been refloated, according to Seaspan Corporation.

The 4,600-TEU container ship went aground in Tateyama Harbour, Japan on 11 January.

According to the statement of the company, their vessel, currently on charter to MOL, was refloated yesterday at 10:55 am by some of the best salvage experts.

Seaspan Corporation is happy with the fact that the incident did not cause any injuries and no environmental consequences.

The cause of the grounding is still being investigated.

MOL Express (IMO number 9251391 and MMSI 477904700) was built in 2003 and is registered in Hong Kong. The 282-metre ship has a crew of 25 men.
