MAERSK Container Industry (MCI), that is a member of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group, has extended an important milestone after producing its 100,000th ‘Star Cool’ refrigeration container. Production gets place at factories in Qingdao, Dongguan and Huidong, China.
The Maersk firm told in a report that this reflects “unabated demand for icy and chilled foods and an acute need for energy savings in global transportation.” Its 50,000th Star Cool container has came off the production line just more than 1 year ago for Hanjin Shipping.
Their focus on energy savings is clearly the right way to go. Bunker fuel prices have got more than doubled since 2005 so they may help clients offset part of the additional bunker cost.
They have more innovation on the way to make global trade more efficient than ever until now. MCI’s managed atmosphere, for example, now lets clients raise transportation time in many cases from 30 to 45 days with no compromising quality.”
Aside from its sister company, Maersk Line, which is another major customer is leasing company CAI International, that lately positioned an order for 500 Integrated Star Cool units.
Headquartered in Tinglev, Denmark, where global sales and R&D is based, the MCI employee 6,000 personnel all over the world. In 2011, the company constructed 41,000 reefer containers.
