MSC - Mediterranean Shipping Company that is based in Geneva, and is the 2nd biggest carrier in the world, will deploy a 13,092-TEU ship MSC Renee that was recently delivered on its Asia-Europe “Lion” service.
This mega vessel is going to replace the existing 11,660-TEU MSC Sola ship, the last vessel of less than 13,000 TEU on this string. The “Lion” loop is a joint service with CMA CGM, the 3rd largest carrier in the world, that is named “FAL 7″.
The MSC vessel - Renee was delivered to its shipowner E R Schiffahrt, based in Hamburg in late May and is the 7th of the 8th neopanamax containerships that were ordered in July 2007 at Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) by Nordcapital, the fund raising firm of E R Schiffahrt, according to Alphaliner.
Bragging the largest geared containerships, all these new WAF-max ships are fitted with 4 cranes.
