Maersk Line’s Triple-E class Munkebo Maersk containership became the biggest vessel ever to sail along the Thames River with her call at the DP World London Gateway port on the morning of February 26th.

The 18,270-TEU vessel had departed Harwich, Essex, carrying different goods such as electronics and clothing. In the afternoon, Munkebo Maersk is due to depart for the Far East.

Simon Moore, Port chief executive, commented:

"By welcoming the Munkebo Maersk we have demonstrated again that we are more than capable of handling the world’s biggest container ships, in this case operating on the Asia-Europe routes."
