Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co (DSME) has been awarded a contract for the construction of two new oil tankers for Maran Tankers Management.

The contact between the South Korean shipbuilding giant and the Greece-based company was inked on Friday, May 15, but the financial terms of the agreement have yet not been disclosed.
The delivery of the two new-buildings, two 156,000- DWT crude oil tankers, has been scheduled for the yearly months of 2017. Currently, on order at DMSE are six more Maran VLCCs with delivery dates set for next year.
Furthermore, DMSE has signed a deal with Angelicoussis Shipping Group (Maran Tankers parent), which provides the construction of two very large crude carriers.
So far in 2015 DSME has secured the total of 12 contacts for the total worth of $17.2 b.
