The New Suez Canal will be opened on August 6, as announced on Saturday by its overseer.
The work on the $8 billion canal began 10 months ago. The latest figures from the Suez Canal Authority shows that nearly 219.3 million cubic meters of material has been dredged out so far from the 258 million set in target, or this accounts for 85%.
Currently, deployed in the waterway are 38 dredgers.
The latest video of Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V shows how the dredging project is pushing "the boundaries in terms of speed, and the deployment of equipment and manpower."
