Lloyd's Register (LR) and Norden have entered into agreement providing that 57 of the Danish company's owned and managed vessels will be classed by LR.
The deal covers 32 ships - transfer of class ships; nine newbuilds - which will be transferred upon delivery; and 16 externally-managed vessels. Currently four ship are classed by LR.
The first vessel that has already been transferred to LR (from DNV GL) is the Nord Mermaid.

Flemming Kjeldsen, marine client manager with LR, explained:
"Our good working relationship with the client and the in-house capabilities we have here in Copenhagen to consistently support them was essential in securing the contract. Classing ships like bulkers and tankers and providing day-in, day-out service delivery is our key activity. We are here to help make sure NORDEN ships can trade as safely and efficiently as possible, taking every care to support them in their business goals."
