Navy pushed away pirate attempt of hijacking on Iranian Oil Tanker

By Piracy

A try by pirates to attack an Iranian oil tanker was stopped by the Iranian Navy's warships.
Lieutenant Commander of the Iranian Navy Rear Admiral Gholam Reza Khadem Biqam informed on yesterday that the vessel was moving through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, which is a liaison to the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden, when it was surprised by the pirates.
But after the tanker sent a signal for help, the Iranian naval forces went immediately to the scene and stopped the attack made by 4 pirate speedboats.
The Iranian Navy has been patrolling the region in the Gulf of Aden for 4 years, when Somali bandits hijacked the Iranian-chartered cargo ship, MV Delight, off the coast of Yemen.
