New mobile app by European Union to show all your rights while traveling this summer

Passengers waiting at airports or expecting missing luggage now have a mobile app to check their rights right away and on the spot. Just for the summer when everyone is planning its vacation, the European Commission has created an application for smartphones which covers air and rail transport and it's compatible on 4 mobile platforms: Apple iPhone and iPad, Google Android, RIM Blackberry and Microsoft Windows Phone 7. The app is designed to be in 22 European Union languages. In the moment includes air and rail transport and will be made available also to bus / coach and marine travel in one year when these rights come into force.
European Commission Vice President Siim Kallas, working for Transport informed: "How many of us have stood in an airport and felt the frustration of people telling you that you have no rights when you know you have! With this application millions of travelers can have easy access to the right information about their passenger rights when they most need it, when unexpected situations arise."
When something gets wrong with our journey, it is a big stress and nerves. Whether a flight is not in time, a package holiday hotel is not as expected or a train time is different – the problem is much easier to be solved if the passenger has more information.
For each potential trouble, the app displays the passenger’s rights. If you are in the airport and a flight is cancelled you are consequently denied boarding, you may have the right to be compensated. If the luggage is damaged because of an accident, you may also be entitled to compensation.
If you hesitate about your rights, or may think they have been violated, the app also provides info on who to call in order to explain your problem.
