The 106-meter general cargo ship Kelly C ran aground on the River Eo, Spain, on Monday (August 24).

The incident occurred in the afternoon near the port of Ribadeo. The British-flagged vessel was departing from the port in Lugo when it got stuck in accumulated sand on the bottom of the estuary during a turning manoever.

The vessel, which was laden with 2,000 tons of pulp, was freed later in the evening with the assistance of the tug Gondan and continued towards the port of Marin.

Kelly C (IMO number 9558024 and MMSI 235080635) was built in 2010. The vessel is managed by CARISBROOKE SHIPPING LTD.
