Cruise vessel in fire off Aegean coast

By Accidents

Not a big cruise vessel carrying a hundred passengers caught fire off Turkey's Aegean coast 4 days ago.
The Didim Mavisi, which conducts tours of the Aegean islands, departed from the Aegean district of Ayvalik 4 days ago, but a fire in no time broke out in the boat's galley area as it cruised near the Sarimsakli. The flames spread quite fast as the captain directed the ship to a nearby cove.
All people on board and crew members were safely evacuated as other vessels arrived to help the cruise ship. Some people scared for their live jumped from the deck and swam ashore.
The ship was damaged beyond use before the fire could be doused in a joint effort between the vessel's crew members and rescue teams came to help from the Turkish coast guard.
