A Norbulk tanker gone for 5 days off West Africa was captured by pirates information from the owner.
The UK company started a search near Togo a week ago after its 7,400-dwt Anuket Emerald (imo number - 9393644 ; year of built 2008) stopped all communications on 18 August.
5 days later, however, a satellite message from the vessel was sent, informing that all the 18 crew members were safe.
The ship arrived at anchorage off Cotonou, Benin, on Friday, beside West African naval forces.
Norbulk informed that pirates had boarded the ship in the morning of 19 August, capturing the ship and the crew members and of course the communication equipment.
"The pirate attack appears to be for the purpose of cargo pilferage as the vessel and crew remain safe," according to information.
