Japan discovers banned N. Korea items on a vessel

Japanese authorities have discovered goods believed to be from North Korea and whose export is prohibited aboard a cargo vessel in Tokyo.
The vessel entered a container terminal on Wednesday after authorities received information from North Korea that the cargo is internationally prohibited.
The officials discovered some containers believed to have been exported from North Korea. The banned items plus aluminium rods which could be converted for military use and steel products were found.
The items found in the cargo had markings which showed that they were produced in the communist state.
The cargo vessel was believed to have set sail from the northeastern Chinese city of Dalian, heading to Southeast Asian countries via Tokyo.
