A Petrobras’ offshore oil platform in Brazil caught fire on Thursday (Mar 17), but was extinguished, Sindipetro NF, a Brazilian workers’ union has revealed.
According to the union, the fire started at the P-48 floating production storage and offloading unit at 13:30 local time.
Citing workers aboard the FPSO, the union said that the flames had reached a height of 20 meters at one point. Nobody was injured.
The Sindipetro-NF said it would continue to follow the case and will participate in the Accident Investigation Commission. The union’s board also will forward a complaint to the competent bodies, the union said.
The P-48 FPSO is moored in the Campos Basin at the Barracuda/Caratinga fields.
