Eco aframax exposed

By Finance

Wartsila has started a new Aframax tanker project that it will offer solutions for current and forthcoming emissions legislation.
It is expected that the ship will be a double hull, single screw crude oil tanker including a CFD-optimised hull to give less resistance with higher propulsion efficiency.
The size of the vessel is expected to be 117,000 DWT, length 253 metres. The propulsion system is designed with high performance, 2-stroke Wartsila X62 main engine. The engine is expected to save 7% of the fuel.
It is suggested that the scrubber could reduce sulphur oxide emissions.
The time for the shipping industry for more fuel efficient technologies has come. Protecting the environment and to drop the costs.
