NOAA ready for Hurricane 'Sandy' Maritime Response

Hurricane is expected along portions of the coast between Chincoteague Virginia and Chatham Massachusetts.
Hurricane 'Sandy' goes north along the Atlantic coast. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration of Coast Survey is ready for action if there is a need.
Coast Survey helps for navigation after hurricanes or other similar events, helps vessels, ports before resuming their work.
NOAA is ready for quick maritime response. They are also identifying vessels of opportunity, so that they can get more personnel and high tech equipment out to ports that will need quick surveys to resume shipping and other operations. Survey teams are strategically placed out of harm’s way but ready to move, as needed, at first opportunity.
Teams that use ships of opportunity will be deployed when comes the time.
