Bulk carrier Whitefish Bay, operated by Canada Steamship Lines, ran aground and blocked most of the St. Lawrence Seaway channel in Canada yesterday.
The vessel was enroute from St. Catharines to Bathurst.
According to local witness, the ship was off course and hit the rocks at the river bottom and then the captain couldn’t manage to control the ship and dropped all the anchors.
The local transportation safety board has been notified of the incident and had not yet made a decision on whether to deploy a team to the area.
