Latest generation of i6-800 in-line six-cylinder engines; winner of the Red Dot Design Award; numerous boats with V12-1900 on site for the first time
MAN Engines will present its latest generation of six-cylinder engines for displacement-hull yachts and planing-hull boats up to 55 feet in a European premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2016. The newly developed marine engine, with a capacity of 12.4 l, is available in two power classes: the i6-730 with 537 kW (730 hp) and the i6-800 with 588 kW (800 hp). The modern Common Rail injection system with up to 1800 bar generates high medium pressures and optimises combustion. This in turn ensures low vibrations and noise emissions as well as low fuel consumption. Behind the i6-800 and i6-730 is MAN's successful D2676 engine, which has proven itself for many years in a wide range of on- and off-road applications.
The latest in-line six-cylinder engine from MAN Engines is not only outstanding in terms of power, reliability and performance: at the beginning of 2016, the MAN i6-800 and MAN i6-730 were also singled out for the international Red Dot Award for their high-quality design.
"With the introduction of the i6, we now have an MAN engine which no longer purely represents reliability and power. The outstanding design of the i6 is the "icing on the cake" for luxury yachts, and next to dynamics, it also brings aesthetics to the engine room," says Claus Benzler, Head of MAN Marine Engines.
Another showpiece is the twelve-cylinder MAN V12-1900 engine with 1324 kW (1900 hp), which is optionally available with a design cover and chrome- or gold-plated cylinder head covers. The most powerful engine in the MAN Engines portfolio to date had its world premiere in Cannes in 2015. MAN is thereby responding to the demand for more power for both planing-hull and displacement-hull boats, providing shipyards with a perfectly coordinated range of engines for all power requirements in the area of recreational boating.
Among the numerous exhibits at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2016 there will once again also be a wide range of boats fitted with MAN engines. MAN's V12-1900 engines will be on show for the first time in the following exhibits: The AB 100 (triple-engine system) from AB Yachts, the DL 26m from DL Yachts, the 850 from Ferretti Yachts (first showing) and the Sunseeker 86 Yacht. In the over 100 feet class two boats from Arcadia Yachts fitted with MAN engines will be on display: the Arcadia 100 (2 x MAN V8-1000) and Arcadia 115 (2 x MAN V8-1200).
MAN Engines itself will be giving the MAN i6-800 its first European outing during the Cannes Yachting Festival at stand Jetée 176 from the 6th until the 9th of September. MAN's top-of-the-range V12-1900 engine will be on display at the stand of Monte Carlo Yachts.
