Nigerian Navy in search for stolen crude oil

Nigerian Navy searched 17 ships suspecting them for stolen crude oil. Millions of barrels of crude oil is believed to be stolen.
The Nigerian navy fleet deployed 8 war ships near Bonny and Bonga oil platforms in the Rivers and Delta states.
The exercise was for a week and the main goals were to strengthen the maritime security in the area and to stop pirates and thieves from attacking the oil platforms.
There is information for arrests of people being suspected of smuggling stolen crude oil.
There were ships carrying to much crude oil, others with incomplete papers.
Some vessels like MT Androussa and MT Aegean Horizon were detained and will be investigated.
Oil platforms are really important for the Nigerian economy, security has to be supported by the Government in order to protect this national treasure.
