About 90 workers injured in Jurong Shipyard jack-up Incident

The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) was warned of an incident at the Jurong Shipyard Pte workplace at Tanjong Kling Road that happened today 3rd December, 2012.
The primary investigations indicate that the jack-up rig of one of its legs of a 3-legged jack-up rig had broken, causing the jack-up rig to tilt to one side.
About ninety (90) jack-up workers of the rig have been sent to 4 different hospitals – the generality of them had minor injuries, 1 worker is in a critical condition and 22 are seriously injured.
Officers from the Ministry of Manpower's (MOM) Occupational Safety and Health Department responded instantly and are on-site investigating the incident.
All work on the rig has stopped at the listing jack-up rig.
