Somali Hostages Rescued

By Piracy

The government of Korea is impressed with the owner of the Singaporean shipping company Glory Ship Management and his struggle to save Korean crew members captured by Somali pirates. 4 people were taken hostages by Somali pirates on April 30, 2011 on the ship MT Gemini, a tanker managed by Glory Ship Management located in Singapore.
The sailors were detained by the pirates for 582 days. After negotiations that took too long crew members were finally freed but after the shipping company paid an unknown amount of money to the kidnappers.
The government of Korea has rules not to negotiate directly with pirates. The owner of the shipping company had a contact with officials and families of the sailors during the negotiations for the ransom.
