VINCI will construct the bridge on Caribbean side of Panama Canal

The Panama Canal Officials solved the notice to step on to VINCI Construction Grands Projects to construct a bridge on the Caribbean side of the canal.
The firm has 1274 construction days to construct the bridge. The agreement was awarded in October 2012. VINCI Construction is a French firm, made the lowest bid, below the official budget. Brazilian-Korean joint venture Odebrecht - Hyundai and the Spanish-Mexican consortium Acciona - TRADECO also nearly made bids.
Panama Canal Authority awarded the bid for the project of the new bridge under Article 3 of Law 28 of 17th July, 2006, legislation which mandated the made of a road bridge on the eastern side linking the 2 canal banks. That bridge is going to foster the development of Colon province.
With an air draft of seventy-five meters, its design is quite similar to that of bridges in Spain, Korea, France, China and Japan, and is going to be a reinforced concrete, 4,6-kilometre long, double-plane, twin pylon, cable-stayed structure with 2 lanes of traffic in each direction.
