Pirates Seize Oil Tanker in Ivory Coast

Pirates have attacked an oil tanker transporting 5,000 tons of oil from a port in Ivory Coast.
Ivorian port authorities announced yesterday that the hijacked ship is Nigerian with 16 people onboard and was attacked in the moment of preparing to unload at the port in Abidjan.
Ivorian port representatives told that the Nigerian owned oil tanker was seized late last week. It is believed that the oil tanker is located off the coast of Ghana, but it is not an official information.
There is an increase in attacks along Africa's Gulf of Guinea for the last year. Pirate activity is considerably high in the Gulf of Guinea with information for 58 incidents for 2012.
