Philippines - China maritime dispute goes UN tribunal

By Curious

The dispute between the 2 countries over oil and fishing rights in the South China Sea goes to UN tribunal.
Political and diplomatic debates did not make any progress.
The Philippines will challenge China's maritime claims and this probably will rise the tensions between the two countries. a solution was not found for the moment.
The Philippines is against a map of the sea first published 65 years ago that extends many miles south from China's Hainan Island to the equatorial waters off the coast of Borneo. China claims sovereignty over more than a hundred small islands, atolls and reefs that form the Paracel and Spratly Islands.
US officials are concerned over the access to South China Sea where ships are patrolling since World War II. Vietnam also is against such a map of the sea because of join development with the Phillippines of oil and gas.
