Independence of the Seas with $7 million upgrade

Royal Caribbean International is making some changes in Independence of the Seas ahead of its 5th summer operating out of Southampton.
The operation will cost $7 million and had to start in April this year before going on MAY 2 in Southampton to start summer sailings.
This will not be the only cruise ship from the fleet of Royal Caribbean International that will be upgraded more $300 million will be invested.
A new baby and toddler nursery will be added. Passengers will have a big outdoor cinema screen. The Cupcake Cupboard, offering freshly-baked cupcakes, culinary parties and design classes, is being added together with Italian trattoria Giovanni’s Table.
New schedules will include short cruises such as 2 night breaks to Le Havre for Paris and 3 night cruises to Le Havre for Paris and Zeebrugge for Bruges. Independence of the Seas itinerary will allow holidaymakers to have an 8-night cruises to Norway,14-night Norway and Cork cruises, 14-night Mediterranean cruises and 12-night Canary Islands sailings. There will be a new call to Ibiza on a 14-night Spanish Mediterranean cruise.
A year ago 5 cruise liners were upgraded: Rhapsody of the Seas, Mariner of the Seas, Grandeur of the Seas, Serenade of the Seas and Enchantment of the Seas.
