Maersk commences new kind of a service from KPCT

A solution which is providing dedicated road and railway lines, effective terminal operations, world-class maritime infrastructure, customer-centric approach, cost effective services was of utmost condition to the Southern Andhra Pradesh, Eastern Karnataka, and Northern Tamil Nadu hinterland. These features determine Krishnapatnam Port Container Terminal (KPCT). With such kinds of advantages, new Container line services are beginning from KPCT.
The biggest shipping liner Maersk Company made its first call at KPCT on the 29th of January, 2013.
This service is going to have a port rotation of Chennai – KPCT – Visakhapatnam – Tanjung Pelepas – Qingdao – Xingang – Shanghai.
Maersk CHX service introductory call was made by MV Jervis bay that has a length overall of 292.15 meters (958' 06"), a GT of 50,350.00 tonnes and may carry a capacity of TEUs 4,226 total. The ship berthed at 13:45 and after exchanging 626 TEUs, GCR 31.3, sailed off at 23:15 hrs. KPCT till date was connected through fixed day services secured by Bengal Tiger Line to Port Klang / Singapore and Mediterranean Shipping Company to global ports through Colombo. This new major line service is just the starting of KPCT’s efforts in securing quality services to the Indian EXIM trade.
This new service started on the 26th of January, 2013 with a port rotation of Chennai – KPCT – Penang – Port Klang – Singapore – Laem Chabang.
