4 dead in Gunfight with Pirates in Niger Delta

There are 4 victims, in this number 2 soldiers, 1 retired naval officer and 1 pilot of an ocean going tug vessel, killed yesterday during a gun fight among men of the Joint Task Force (JTF) and attackers-pirates in Bayelsa State.
The attackers were announced to have attacked in ambush the barge they were escorting along the River Forcados at Angiama community in the state in Nigeria.
The JTF's spokesman in the Niger Delta, Operation Pulo Shield, Lt. Col. Onyema Nwachukwu, announced the accident Tuesday.
In the fight, 2 other soldiers sustained serious wounds, while 3 men of the attackers also sustained seriously injured even as they were dragged away by their colleagues-pirates when they made good escape. One of the crew members was announced missing.
The military officials couldn't give instant reasons for the attack as the tug vessel and the barge that they were escorting were said to be empty at the time of the attack.
The tug vessel was said to be owned of an oil service company, Sterling Global Oil Services Limited and had set sail from Warri and headed for Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital when it was attacked.
