Container vessel hugs the coastline and concerned residents

A big Japanese container vessel caused some concerns between citizens as it passed very close to the mid north coast yesterday.
Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) reported that the bulk carrier MV Kurotakisan Maru was en route to Newcastle when it came very close to the Nambucca coastline.
The 88,000 tonne and 235 meters long container ship was within 10 n.m. off the coast and sailing very slowly in order to conserve fuel.
A number of citizens noticed the large bulk carrier and were concerned it might have been stuck close to shore.
The Roads and Maritime Services told that the container vessel wasn't having any trouble.
But it reported that trading ships waiting to enter the Newcastle port must remain at least 10 n.m. off the coast.
The bulk carrier was directed further out to sea.
