1 Dead after Container Vessel Collided with a Harbor Craft in Sinki Fairway

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) obtained a report of a collision between a container vessel and a harbor craft vessel at 12 hrs Singapore time on March 13, 2013. The accident occurred between the Antigua and Barbuda-flagged container vessel BOSUN and a harbor craft boat SC3566E in Sinki Fairway, about 7km southwest of Pasir Panjang Terminal.
There were 2 seafarers on the board of the harbor craft vessel that sank following the accident. A passing nearby ship rendered immediate assistance. Reportedly, 1 of the 2 people from the harbor craft vessel was pronounced dead while the other was transported to the National University Hospital for medical attention.
Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore has issued navigational broadcasts to ships in the vicinity to keep clear of the accident zone. Port operations are unaffected.
MPA is currently investigating the collision and is going to review safety procedures in the port.
