A naming ceremony for Höegh LNG’s eighth floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) was held on Thursday at the Hyundai Heavy Industries’ shipyard in Ulsan, South Korea.

Höegh LNG names its eighth floating storage and regasification unit at HHI Shipyard in Ulsan

The 170,000-cbm vessel named Höegh Esperanza will have a regas capacity of 750 MMscf/day. The FSRU is 294m long and 46m wide, according to Höegh LNG.

Norway-based Höegh LNG said before that the vessel was intended to serve the Penco-Lirquén LNG import terminal and the accompanying onshore gas-fired power plant in Chile.

However, as the start of Chile’s third LNG import terminal has been delayed due to issues with the project’s environmental approval, the FSRU will be reallocated to a different project.

Höegh LNG said in its latest quarterly report that it was in talks for medium-term employment for the unit with the planned start-up in the middle of 2018. The Höegh Esperanza is scheduled for delivery next month.
