As of 1 September 2019, cargo traffic within Azov-Don Basin of Russia’s IWWs totaled 6.274 million tonnes (-5%, year-on-year), Azov-Don Basin Administration stated.

In the reporting period, transportation of transit cargo declined by 2% to 5.449 million tonnes, internal turnover fell by 19% to 825,000 tonnes.

By September 2019, Azov-Don Basin Authority registered 3,848 vessel movements including 1,854 downward and 1,994 upward (versus 3,848 in the same period of 2018: 1,880 downward and 1,968 upward).  

In August 2019, cargo traffic within Azov-Don Basin fell by 5%, year-on-year, to 1.442 million tonnes. Transportation of heavy fuel oil accounted for 27.2%, wheat – for 17.3%, sulphur – for 16%. Transit cargo flow dropped by 4% to 1.231 million tonnes, internal turnover – by 9% to 211,000 tonnes.

In August 2019, Azov-Don Basin Authority registered 893 vessel movements including 439 downward and 454 upward (versus 882 in August 2018: 445 downward and 437 upward).

The total length of the waterways in the area of responsibility Azov-Don Basin Administration is 691.3 kilometers.
