DFDS opens route between Frederikshavn and Oslo

DFDS has decided to open a new route between Frederikshavn and Oslo on 25 June. It will be operated by DFDS' two well-known ferries, Pearl Seaways and Crown Seaways, which will call at Frederikshavn during the voyage between Copenhagen and Oslo.

No travel will be offered exclusively between Copenhagen and Frederikshavn. There will thus be two routes.

There will be daily departures from Copenhagen at 14:00 and from Frederikshavn at 23:30, with arrival in Oslo at 09:00.

There will also be a daily departure from Oslo at 12:00 with arrival in Frederikshavn at 22:00 and in Copenhagen at 09:00.

“It will be a great day for DFDS and our employees when we again welcome passengers travelling between Denmark and Norway to go on holiday in their own car or caravans, use cottages, hotels or simply enjoy a sea voyage. And it is of course a special pleasure for us to resume DFDS' sailings between Frederikshavn and Oslo after 46 years’ absence," says Torben Carlsen, CEO of DFDS. "We hope and believe that the route opening will have a positive impact on tourism and trade in the three cities and surrounding regions, and we also look forward to being able to service our freight customers and their lorries, trailers or other goods on the two routes.”

New customer needs The passenger deals on board will be adapted to the new pattern of sailing and the changing demand during the COVID-19 crisis.

“Our market assessment is that from the start there will be greater demand from customers with a transport need. Of course, this is part of the planning when we have to arrange new deals in shops, restaurants, etc. We look forward to providing all types of guests with a great service and experience on board, while offering what customers demand in a post-coronavirus era, with plenty of room for the individual to maintain safe distances and increased focus on cleaning and hygiene,” says Kasper Moos, Head of DFDS Passenger business.
