Contractor’s trials regarding the Konecranes RTG cranes that are to serve the operating purposes of the Marine Multipurpose Complex Bronka (MMPK Bronka, Big Port St. Petersburg) are going to take place at the production facilities of the company that are located in Hanko (Finland) during the time period of May 26th to the 29th, as reported by Fenix LLC, Bronka project investor and developer.
The appointed trials will feature the function test, trials with load, and the verifying of the performance of the security devises.
If all goes according to schedule, the cranes are to be delivered to MMPK Bronka at some point in early June.
The Marine Multipurpose Complex Bronka (MMPK Bronka) is currently going through its construction phase which is taking place on the Gulf of Finland’s southern shore, where the Ring Road and the Dam border Lomonosov. The complex will feature 3 specialized facilities: a Ro-Ro terminal of 57 ha, a container terminal which will encompass 107 hectares, and a 42 ha logistics center. The Ro-Ro terminal’s dock line will have a length of 630 meters (3 berths), while the container terminal will come along with a 1.176 meter-long quay wall and that includes 5 berths. Once Bronka Phase 1 is completed the complex will have a capacity level of 1.45 million TEUs and 260,000 Ro-Ro cargo units.
The expansion of the MMPK Bronka will greatly contribute towards increasing the container throughput of the facility to 1.9 million TEUs. When all construction processes along with all dredging-related procedures are completed to the 14,4-meter design mark in 2015, the complex is going to have the capability to provide sufficient accommodations to post-Panamax container carriers and Finnstar-class ferries.
Expectations are that the Bronka project will generate roughly 2,300 job positions at the complex’s marine terminals alone.
According to schedule the MMPK Bronka operations are to be initiated in September of this year.
