The rumors that Cosco is going to start building 20,000-TEU series have been confirmed by brokers.
It was revealed that the top marine conglomerate of China has entered into agreements for nine firm orders plus options for additional four 20,000-TEU containerships.
The orders have been split between three domestic shipyards. Four of the firm orders will be built by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS), Nantong Cosco KHI Ship Engineering (NACKS) has been contracted for three and two containerships are to be built at Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co (DSIC) yard.
