At about 7:30 PM (New Delhi time) on Wednesday, a merchant ship MV Infinity 1, approximately 20 NM off Goa coast, reported water ingress and continuous listing to starboard side. The vessel had reported that the list is increasing despite ship's dewatering efforts.
Indian Naval Ship Trikand from Western Naval Command was in the vicinity and has responded immediately by sending team of 4 personnel including 2 officers and high speed dewatering pump.

Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre was also informed. Coast Guard Ship Amal and tug from Goa has also been dispatched for assistance and another Naval ship INS Kondul has been placed on standby.
MV Infinity 1 was thereafter anchored and additional pumps being readied for immediate delivery.

Presently, MV Infinity 1 continues to list and is proceeding to Karwar (with INS Trikand escorting her) at slow speeds. Vessel is expected to enter harbour later in the day.
The 83-m long vessel with 14 Indian crew (including Master) was transiting from Kandla port in Gujarat and proceeding to Karwar, Karnataka.
The development is being closely monitored by all agencies.
